Netherlands Behind in Sustainable Energy

A report of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has found that the Netherlands is among the five least performing countries in the European Union concerning the use of sustainable energy. At present only 3% of all energy in the country is sustainable. Incentives in the Netherlands are below the European average. By 2020, 20% of all energy used in the EU must be sustainable. Minister of Economic Affairs Maria van der Hoeven (Christian Democrats) explained the backwardness by saying that the Netherlands cannot develop energy from water power.
