As gasoline and cigarettes
are becoming increasingly more expensive in the Netherlands, more and more
Dutch people cross over the border to Germany for their purchases. Gasoline
costs 16 Euro cents more per liter in the Netherlands now than in Germany. This
leads to major economic problems for Dutch gasoline stations near the German
border which have lost tens of percent of their gasoline sales. While these
Dutch are already in Germany to fill up their tanks, they also buy other goods
in Germany, damaging the Dutch economy further.
