Police Union: Number of Incidents of Extreme Violence is Rising

Gerrit van de Kamp, the chairman of the police trade union, ACP, says that the number of incidents of extreme violence in the Netherlands is increasing.  This can be seen, for instance, in the recent series of murders in Amsterdam.  He says that the police force should therefore have more officers equipped with machine guns.  Due to the many threats in the Netherlands, more police officers are busy with security.  The number of police officers should therefore be increased by 2,000.  Van de Kamp adds that the police should be given greater liberty in responding to extreme violence.
