Government Hiding Key Information on Plane Crash

On 17 July, 2014, a Malaysian plane was shot down over eastern Ukraine, and all its passengers were killed.  Among them were close to 200 Dutchmen.  In answering parliamentary questions, the government said that key information regarding the crash, including government decisions made in the first three months after the crash, are a state secret and will not be published. It was also discovered that a report on a briefing in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, which took place three days before the crash and which explained the dangerous situation in the country, was sent to the Dutch Council of Investigations of Safety six months after the official investigation of the crash had started.  This month, the briefing memo became public due to a leak.
